Boilers and heating systems are famously more likely to break down in winter, just when you need them the most! Regular maintenance of your heating system is vital to keep your home or workplace warm, cosy and, above all, safe, because faulty boilers have the potential to be dangerous. If your boiler is leaking or dripping it could indicate a worn part, like a pump seal or valve, or the pressure may be too high. Corrosion of the pipes or tank can also cause leaks.

Another sure sign of a problem is if your system makes banging, whistling or gurgling noises. Noisy boilers may have too low pressure, a failing pump, or it could be “kettling” because of a build up of limescale and other deposits in the system that need to be professionally flushed out.

If the radiators are not heating up evenly there could be a variety of causes, including sludge build up or air in the system. Balancing, flushing and bleeding radiators is best done by a Gas Safe engineer.
